Whenever you’re editing regions, tracks, or audio, it’s helpful to be able to adjust the waveforms in your regions. Flex time is one of my favorite features that is included in Logic. It allows you to adjust the timing of individual transients so that you can place your audio exactly on the beat you want it. Oftentimes, this can clean up a song faster than any amount of mixing.
Groups are beneficial when you want to edit regions and tracks all at once. A great example of this would be if you recorded a live drum kit and wanted to edit your takes of multiple tracks at once, grouping those tracks is the fastest way to get it done.
Lastly, this has to be one of the coolest features in logic that I haven’t seen in any other DAW. Capture recording allows you to record something even though you didn’t previously start rolling. We will discuss each of them in detail. To do this, first you need to select the MIDI device that hosts the controller. Then, go to the Key Commands menu, select Assign Controller, and choose the controller you want to use.
Assign a Key – This method will let you create custom commands by assigning any key to it. This can be used to create shortcuts for repetitive tasks or commands that cannot be assigned to a MIDI controller. To create custom key commands using this method, go to the Key Commands menu, select Assign Key, and press the desired key.
Assign a Shortcu t – This method is a combination of both the above methods. It will let you assign a key and a MIDI controller to that key. You can use this method to create custom commands that will use both the key and a MIDI controller at the same time. To create custom key commands using this method, select the key you want to assign, go to the Key Commands menu, and select Assign Shortcut. Assign only the most common key commands to the keyboard. This is because a custom keyboard command will replace the existing keyboard command for that key and any other control that you have assigned to it.
Assign only essential keyboard commands to your MIDI controller. Avoid using the same key combination for multiple commands. This will make it difficult to recall which command will be executed using that key combination. Make sure you understand the precedence of the key commands.
This will let you understand which command will be executed when you press a combination of keys. There are many more shortcuts that are useful in Logic Pro X and it is worth committing these shortcuts to memory. Copy and paste them to your notes and just practice using them.

I can use the Go to Marker key command to open the window that allows you to type in number of the marker you want, but what I guess I am looking for is a way to literally hit one button or some kind of key stroke that doesn’t involve another window.
Say I am at the end of a piece and know the marker number at the beginning that I want, is there a way to type it in and go? I had actually already found my way there but couldn’t figure out exactly how to set the new key assignment.
Is it me or is this manual kind of vague sometimes? Guess I’m one of those guys that needs to be told “move your left hand to the number 1 key and press that key. I finally found my way by just hitting keys at random in an attempt to achieve my goal.

When using those key commands, I make it a habit of using markers with set lengths, rather than the default 1-tick-long markers Logic creates when using the pencil tool in the marker track. I’ve found when working like that those key commands work flawlessly.

Also if you think of that position on the keyboard, it is over on the right hand side which means you have to take your hand off the mouse assuming you are right handed.
Much quicker ergonomically to programme to single keys right next to each other for these commands which again I find I switch back and forth rapidly between markers. I have always used F6 and F7 for these two key commands ie back and forth right next to each other.
