We have installed Filemaker Server 14 on a Windows box non-domain to host a database. We opened up ports and on router and pointed them to server and installed a database. I go home and check the database to open it from Filemaker 13 from my home computer simply put in the ip address to test it, once I enter the ip address the database shows in the list and I can open it.

I go to another office and attempt to connect to it from our network to the remote database and it does not list anything. I make sure the firewall on the workstation has ports open. And the domain firewall has ports open but nothing works connecting from our network. Any suggestions.

If so, then there is something within the original user account. If the issue still exists, try physically switching the computer with a working computer on the network. This will determine if the connection is the issue. If this works, then try to determine what is different about the two network connections.

For example, check to see if another router is involved, signal strength, etc. Same thing, with new user and changing the switch port. Since the issue still occurs when the original machine is moved to a place on the network where another machine works, the network can be ruled out. Since the new user account also has the issue, it is either a system or FileMaker issue. However, you mentioned that you have replaced FileMaker Pro “about 3 times”, so you will need to determine what is on your system that is different from the other systems.

I checked the power options and set them not to go in sleep mode , screensaver disabled , NIC is on IPV4, network cable is healthy and no issues are there.

I am trying to install FMS14 on one of our servers and I am getting a license conflict error which I have never seen before, where the server is conflicting. Note Because of security improvements in FileMaker Server 14, FileMaker Pro 12 downloading use the secure web connections port, sending data over HTTPS. It means FileMaker Server can no longer see the client, and this results in the “Connection with the host was interrupted” error message.
